This program requires successful completion of a theoretical (online/webinar), successful competition of assignments/exercises, case studies and exam (minimum 80% pass) and practical examination (2 day in class) for certification. Full attendance is mandatory (online and in class)
Core Curriculum Nurse (RPN/RN)
This introductory to Basic and Advanced Foot Care Nurse course provides nurses (RPN/RN) with the knowledge (theory) and skills necessary to function as a Foot care Nurse in all clinical settings. This comprehensive basic and advanced foot care program follows RNAO and Public Health best practice guidelines in infection control, competency for foot care and evidence based practice in nursing foot care treatment.
The course reviews the theory of Basic & Advanced Diabetic foot care and is taught by fellow registered nurses with extensive knowledge and training in Basic and Advanced Nursing Foot care and Diabetic foot care.
This program provides basic through to advanced theoretical via (online/webinar) and practical (in class) instruction. The course is set up so students can learn at home following the online webinar schedule (module 1-6), then complete the final in class 2 days (module 7), by practicing on each other.
Please do not cut your toenails for one month prior to start of course. No nail polish please.
Full attendance and participation is mandatory.
Course fee includes
● Use of Instruments and lab costs- Sterile instruments (nippers, blacks files, foot files, scalpels, burs), use of different types of podiatry drills.
● Use of PPE’s (gowns, masks, eye protection, gloves, alcohol gel, disinfectant wipes, etc.)
● Use of miscellaneous health teaching supplies (moisturizers, padding and strapping materials)
● Use of assessment tools (tuning fork, monofilaments, infrared thermometer etc.)
